Lipreading classes
Lipreading is a life skill and everyone will lipread to a certain extent. If you have hearing loss you may not realise how much you are relying on lipreading to enable you to follow a conversation. Lipreading classes are often called lipreading and managing hearing loss classes. Classes are held in Ramsey, Peel and Douglas. Each class lasts for 2 hours with a short break in the middle.
British Sign Language (BSL) classes
We offer a range of BSL classes, from short 30 minute introductory sessions where you learn the fingerspelling alphabet and some simple greetings through to Level 1 and 2 courses accredited by Signature. Courses take place at The Manx Deaf Society throughout the year.
Deaf Awareness training
Our Deaf Awareness courses can be adapted to the specific needs of an organisation. We also run open enrolment sessions at various times during the year. In the session you will gain an understanding of some of the challenges faced by deaf people and what you can do to reduce or eliminate those challenges.
